Sacred Dance Guild Festival 2012
July 24-29, 2012
Discover Hope College and beautiful Holland, Michigan. Holland is conveniently located midway between Chicago and Detroit. Although it only takes about 3 hours from either major city, you’ll feel like you’re in a different world - but you won't even need a passport (unless you're coming in from outside of the US of course)! Hope College is located right in the center of this lovely town! From campus you'll find wonderful, quaint downtown shops, restaurants and pubs right around the corner!
You may also wish to visit the Official Travel Information section of the Holland, Michigan web site for comprehensive regional travel information. Come early, stay late - you can create your own itinerary to make your visit memorable and complete!
TRAVEL TO FESTIVAL
Plane, Train & Car - another exploration of "Dance a World of Hope" happens even before you arrive at Festival! We do HOPE you arrive without any travel challenges!! We suggest you enjoy the experience as a Journey of Discovery and take time to ponder the people you meet and witness on that journey! Remember also, every day and in every way, experience the sacred moments in life and make ordinary moments extraordinary by what YOU bring to the moment! Remember to start to Dance a World of Hope on your way to Festival!!
Hope College is a beautiful campus in a beautiful corner of the world, and is easily accessibly by car (with free parking) and by train (train station a quick taxi trip from the train station in Holland). Air travel is a little less convenient but still easily accessible! The closest airport Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan is approximately 45 minutes away. The Sacred Dance Guild has made arrangements with Coleman's Shuttle Service for transportation between the airport and the College. Please see details and contact information on the attached flyer. You can also join us on Facebook if you are looking for ridesharing (and/or to find a roommate).
The Official Travel Information section of the Holland, Michigan web site has a comprehensive list of shuttle services available from the Airport to the College. The Hope College web site also has detailed information on getting to the campus.
Hope College Information
Most participants will choose to stay at one of the residences booked for our festival on campus. Information about the campus is located on the Hope Web Virtual Tour. The residences assigned to us (at this time) are the Lichty and Scott Halls. Please note that these residences are not air-conditioned; however, the average temperature in the summer months is the mid 70's with close proximity to the breezes from Lake Michigan.
Hope College has a marvelous full service cafeteria where participants will have meals. For information or details check the web site at Phelps Dining Hall. Note that the campus itself alcohol free.
As an alternative to staying on campus, Hope College also has a full service hotel on campus with all classes and events easily accessible by foot! Check out information on the website for The Haworth Inn. We are not able to accommodate "post" festival stays in the college dorms as there is a large group coming in on Sunday the 29th. If you do wish to stay after Festival you can consider the Haworth Inn or other hotels in or near Holland - see options at Michigan Hotels.
