Soaring Voices
Presenter: Pamala Lewis

Discover the hidden dances in your heart and the sacred voices of your soul through this very simple yet profound practice of moving and vocal streaming. You will explore the natural connection of your breath and spontaneous sounds in your body while inviting them to lead you into movement, dance or stillness. The class ends with a group Sound Circle that allows each voice to soar together as ONE. No previous voice or dance training is necessary. You will study with Wise Masters...your Body and your Voice.

Pamala Lewis comes from a family of dancers, singers and storytellers. She was inspired to study and work with New York dance teachers like Meredith Monk, Jamie Cunningham, Beverly Brown, and Washington D. C.'s Liz Lerman, whose Dancers of the Third Age venture combined voice and dance. In 1985, Pamala received an MFA degree in Dance from Connecticut College and in 1990-2000 moved to the Netherlands. There she studied voice work with French director, Jean Renee Toussaint, and voice and movement training with London's, Paul Newham. She also completed a course, The Natural Voice, with Ida Kelarova of the Czech Republic. For over 25 years, Pamala has enjoyed performing as well as teaching, offering master classes and workshops in vocal, modern, improvisational, sacred and contemplative dance forms. She has taught throughout the United States and in Belgium, Portugal, East Germany, France and Holland.
